Discuss the development of Buddhism from Hinduism

Because Hinduism didn't have any one standard orthodox presentation or set of rituals, the religion encouraged free exploration of spiritual matters. Buddhism was developed by Shakyamuni Buddha (563-483 BCE) who as a young Hindu aristocrat had a profound experience of the suffering of the world. This experience compelled him to meditate under a fig tree where eventually found enlightenment. He passed his philosophy on to his disciples through the Dhammapada (the path of truth) a collection of 423 aphorisms. The purpose of Buddhism was to overcome ignorance, which Buddha saw as the prime cause of suffering.
