How are prions, such as PrPSc, an example of epigenetic inheritance?
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: PrPSc is an abnormal conformation of a normal protein, PrPC, that is self-perpetuating by virtue of the fact that it converts normal PrPC into PrPSc. This is epigenetic because it does not result from a DNA variant but can be passed along much like a nucleic acid-based infectious agent.
