Describe when an interface occurs.

What will be an ideal response?

An interface occurs when two systems come together and interact, or communicate. In the case of the PLC, the communication or interaction is between the inputs (limit switches, push buttons, sensors, and the like), outputs (coils, solenoids, lights, and so forth), and the processor. This interface happens when any input or output voltage (AC or DC) or current signal is changed to or from a low-voltage DC signal that the processor uses internally for the decision-making process.
