What are four responses to the idea that slavery is responsible for much of the underdevelopment in Africa today?

What will be an ideal response?

Death from disease and other natural causes resulted in a greater loss of population in Africa than did slavery. Despite similar losses in population due to mass emigration Europe still managed to industrialize. Population density and civilizations that developed on the West African coast did not lead to successful development. In Latin America the plantation system was changed over time and levels of inequality there were at their worst after emancipation.
