How are outdoor activities similar to and different from indoor activities.

What will be an ideal response?

Both outdoor and indoor activities require extensive planning by teachers. This planning involves creating a stimulating environment, providing for the needs of each child, providing an array of experiences that will interest and challenge children, explaining concepts, and encouraging exploring and problem-solving. However, outdoor activities require the teacher to be more aware of safety concerns than indoor activities do. For example, for outdoor activities, teachers should develop the ability to scan the play area. By doing this, they can keep watch for any possible safety hazards for the children. Also, outdoor activities will be more affected by the weather than indoor activities. Teachers, thus, will have to adapt activities more to these conditions and, at times when weather is inclement, bring children inside to do alternative activities.
