Describe federal legislation that has been passed with regard to victims' rights
What will be an ideal response?
The Crime Victims' Rights Act (2004) provided assurances to crime victims that their rights would be recognized by the criminal justice system. The law amends Title 18 (Part II, Chapter 25/Section 3771) of the Federal Criminal Code. Federal law now guarantees crime victims the following rights: to be reasonably protected, notified, present, and heard at various stages in the criminal justice system; to confer with the prosecutor; to receive restitution; to expect proceedings free from unreasonable delay; and to be treated with fairness and respect.
