· Use good body mechanics.
·  Organize your work well to reduce the total number of motions required to complete the task.

· Place linen and needed items on the patient's chair or within close reach.
·  Maintain a neutral posture and bend from the legs, not the waist. Avoid twisting.
·  Squat, sit, or kneel on the plastic mat next to the bed if this is easier and helps keep the spine straight.
·  Slowly remove the bed linen several pieces at a time. Avoid trying to remove all the linen in one bundle.
