Why may it have been an evolutionary advantage for cephalopods to have a highly reduced shell or none at all?

What will be an ideal response?

Shell loss may have been driven by competition with jawed fishes, which evolved 400 million years ago. Cephalopods with the smallest shell could be fastest and most agile.
