Briefly explain some criticism of Ginzberg's career choice theory

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: Critics charge that it is an oversimplification of the process of choosing a career. Because his research was based on the middle socioeconomic class, his theory may overstate the choices and options available to lower socioeconomic levels. The ages that Ginzberg associates with each level or stage may be too rigid and not reflect the seriousness of decisions that people make who leave high school and immediately enter a job. Additionally, economic shifts may cause people to have to change careers at different point in their lives even though they did not plan on changing careers.
