(ii) Informal Reading Inventories—helps determine independent, instructional, and frustrational reading levels; student reads a set of graded word lists and reading passages (orally and silently); student is asked comprehension questions at varying levels; score determines reading level. (iii) Running Record—students read from textual material with identified level of readability; teacher listens to student read roughly 100 words in book used for reading instruction; mark check for each word read correctly; write in word said (and write underneath word that should have been said); helps determine student’s reading instructional level.
