There is a large push to tap domestic oil supplies. Do you agree or disagree, and why?
What will be an ideal response?
Advantages to tapping domestic oil include: some independence from foreign oil, technology is already in place.Disadvantages include: supplies are not necessarily used within the USA (some is exported), environmental degradation, defers from investment into renewable energy supplies, domestic use is much higher than domestic supplies, more expensive than foreign oil, will not reduce prices for consumers in the short term, opens environmentally sensitive and protected lands to development and subsidies industries at a cost to the taxpayer.
