In the 1960s public high schools were beginning to be integrated, so that meant African American students were often sent to the “White” high schools being that they needed integrated and vice versa, and sometimes the White students were sent to the schools that had been predominantly African American, and although there was some tension in the classrooms but not in the football locker room because it became clear that a person’s skin color didn’t really matter that much because we were all teammates, by playing ball with my African American brothers I developed close friendships and I learned about all the things we have in common and how we have more of those things than things we have that are different.

Each of the following sentences is too long and contains too many ideas. For each sentence, create a set of new sentences to more clearly express the ideas. Use rewording as necessary to make the sentences clearer. Use this example as a model.
