What is the Americans with Disabilities Act?

What will be an ideal response?

The ADA protects people with intellectual impairment, hearing or vision impairment, orthopedic conditions, learning disabilities, speech impairment, AIDS/HIV, and other health or physical conditions that limit one’s life activities. The ADA deals with four basic areas. First, it requires that local, state, and federal governments and programs be made accessible for individuals with disabilities. Second, it requires employers with more than 15 employees to make “reasonable accommodations” for workers with disabilities and to refrain from discriminating against qualified workers with disabilities. Third, the law mandates that public buildings, accommodations, and facilities make reasonable modifications to enable individuals with disabilities to use those buildings and facilities. Fourth, it requires that individuals with disabilities be given access to public transportation, communication, and other areas of public life.
