What are the risk factors that correlate with youthful suicidal behaviors? What are suicide behaviors? Provide some examples of suicide behaviors. How do such risk factors relate to suicidal behaviors?

What will be an ideal response?

There are several risk factors correlated with suicidal behaviors, including
depression and other mental health problems, one or more prior suicide attempts, a
family history of suicide or family violence, firearms in the house, and incarceration.
These risk factors do not necessarily mean that the youth has suicidal tendencies;
however, as the number of risk factors increase, so does the risk of suicidal behavior. It
is important to use these risk factors in identifying those youth who are most at risk for
suicide and begin immediate and concerted preventative actions. Suicide behaviors are
symptoms that the youth may be contemplating committing suicide. These behaviors
include feelings of hopelessness or worthlessness, a decline in or lack of family or
social activity participation, changes in eating or sleeping patterns, feelings of rage or
need for revenge, consistent exhaustion, low concentration abilities at home and/or
school, regular or frequent crying, lack of self-care, and reckless or impulsive behaviors.
Again, as the number of symptoms increase, so too does the risk of suicide.
