What are the advantages and disadvantages of the Raven's Progressive Matrices for measuring intelligence, as compared to other common IQ tests such as the Stanford-Binet and Wechsler tests?

What will be an ideal response?

Raven's Progressive Matrices do not require use of language or reference to any factual information. Therefore they provide a more nearly fair test for people who speak different languages or come from different cultures. The disadvantage is that the Progressive Matrices provide only a single score instead of identifying an individual's areas of strength and weakness.
