Explain the link between political corruption and organized crime.
What will be an ideal response?
Organized crime would have a very difficult time surviving were it not for the corruption of powerful individuals not directly associated with it. Corruption (dishonest and unethical conduct by people in power) is a continuum ranging from the beat cop accepting a small bribe to “look the other way” to corruption at the highest levels of government. There is thus no doubt that a high level of business and political corruption walk hand-in-hand with organized crime.
