Define the term structural soundness, and give some examples of good and bad structure.

What will be an ideal response?

Structural soundness refers to the correctness of the feet and legs of an animal. In a structurally correct animal, a plumb line dropped from the pins to the ground will intersect with the hock. A cow that stands too straight on its back legs is considered post legged. The opposite condition, also undesired, is known as sickle hocked. In this condition, undue stress is placed on the stifle muscle, causing the ligament attaching the stifle muscle to tear. Other examples of poor structure are splayfooting, in which the front feet point in opposite directions, and buck knees, in which the knees, when viewed from the side, bow out_
