It provides end-to-end real time data transport of multimedia data (data, audio, and video) via unicast or multicast network services. The RTP in combination with a Real-Time Transport Control Protocol is able to monitor data transport to a large multicast network services. Internet telephony is one of the most common applications of the RTP.
