Describe how you might use the listen, protect and connect model when working with someone who is at risk of suicide.

What will be an ideal response?

I would listen to warning signs to see if the person is at risk of suicide. I would also listen by gathering information to find out if the person is experiencing suicidal ideation and if they have a plan and means to carry out a suicidal intention. To protect the person, I would insure that the person was not alone and I would make every effort to keep them away from dangerous objects. I would connect the person to supports and emergency services, and if necessary, to an escort so that the person did not leave the helping space alone.
