Supplements are useful for individuals who cannot meet their nutrient needs through a regular, varied diet. These include: women of child-bearing age, pregnant and lactating women, older adults, vegans, those who have been advised by their physician to consume supplements to correct a vitamin or mineral deficiency, individuals who do not drink enough milk and/or do not have adequate sun exposure to meet their vitamin D needs, and individuals who do not drink enough milk and/or do not have adequate sun exposure to meet their vitamin D needs.
