Explain the benefits of lifelong learning for teachers

Teachers are expected to keep up with the latest developments in education. In many schools and districts, in fact, teachers are offered financial incentives to continue to learn through professional education courses at a college or university or through professional development courses, often referred to as in-service courses, offered by the school district itself. These incentives are based on how many formal graduate school credits or professional development credits a teacher earns in a given academic year. Professional organizations can play a major role in expanding one's development as a teacher. The National Education Association, the American Federation of Teachers, and the National Association for the Education of Young Children offer teachers the opportunity to attend conferences, read and contribute to journals, and access professional resources.?
