Why did New England not attract as many immigrants as other areas did? How did that affect the social structures of the region?

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: In the middle colonies, there was a large availability of land and owners were able to negotiate with Indians, reducing the risk for violent clashes. On the other hand, New England landowners preferred to rent rather than sell their land, which attracted fewer immigrants. In addition, the Iroquois Indians dominated the fur trade and actively defended their territory, increasing the risk of Indian and European clashes.
