How will you explain to P.M. the likely progression of his disease?

What will be an ideal response?

Hepatitis B has a long incubation period (5 weeks to 6 months). Appearance of symptoms varies
with individuals, and many do not have symptoms. Symptoms usually appear within 25 to 180 days
of exposure. Most adults will recover and clear the virus from the body and develop immunity as
a result of the disease. However, a small number do not develop immunity and become chronic
carriers and are at risk for cirrhosis and even liver cancer.
