Describe the diet for clients who are on hemodialysis
Protein requirement is 1.2 g per kilogram of body weight. Potassium is restricted to 2,000-4,000 mg. Milk is restricted to 1/2 cup daily because of the potassium and protein it contains. Usually water-soluble vitamins, vitamin D, calcium, and iron are supplemented. Vitamin A should not be given because the blood level of Vitamin A tends to be elevated in uremia.
