What will be an ideal response?

This will require an updated review of these trends by the instructor. For example, there appears to be a decline in foreign graduate students attending U.S. graduate schools because of homeland security and immigration measures. On the other hand, graduate school admissions for U.S. students has increased because of the current economic recession.

A larger gap between rich and poor should mean a rising crime rate among the poor because of lack of jobs and resources. There does not seem to be any decline in illegal drugs importation and exploited illegal immigrants.

With more police services and federal police monies devoted to terrorism and homeland security, there is less money for fighting "traditional"crimes." Thus crime may increase with a declining clearance rate.
