Discuss the origin, function, and utility of Amber Alerts

What will be an ideal response?

• The Amber Alert system makes use of radio, television, roadside electronic billboards, and emergency broadcast systems to disseminate information about kidnapping suspects and victims soon after the abduction of a child younger than age 18 years is reported. The alerts, named after a nine-year-old Texas girl, Amber Hagerman, who was kidnapped and killed in 1996, are currently in almost all states. Their purpose is fast recovery of a child who could be killed or seriously injured a short time after being kidnapped.
