Political violence aims to achieve a political end. It can be carried out by state or non-state actors. Both interstate and intrastate violence are persistent problems in many LDCs. Political violence includes violence against ethnic groups, territorial disputes, secession movements and the repression of dissidents. While interstate war is becoming increasingly rare intrastate or civil conflict remains a problem for LDCs.
