Huntington's disease (HD) is caused by degeneration of the caudate nucleus and the putamen (and loss of GABA function). The disease is marked by uncontrollable jerky movements of the arms and legs. Parkinson's disease is associated with neurodegeneration of the dopamine system and involves difficulty initiating movements.
