Describe the role of planning in terms of (1) performance, (2) preparedness, and (3) progressiveness
What will be an ideal response?
Modern police departments evaluate the performance by asking citizens through community meetings, questionnaires, feedback calls, e-mails and letters "How well did the officers perform?" Specific questions are asked about specific behavior as well as asking for an overall evaluation. A professional police department is not afraid to ask citizens to evaluate police performance. Using information technology to create a solid feedback system from line officers, middle level management and citizens to the police leadership leads to positive planning and preparedness. A progressive police leadership invites positive criticism and input from line officers, middle management and citizens. Progressive police management also provides an information technology base for feedback to the police leadership through web pages, chat rooms and e-mails.
