Briefly describe the purpose of Block Flow Diagrams.

What will be an ideal response?

Block flow diagrams (BFDs) are the simplest of all the diagrams used to present process data in a graphical format. They are meant to provide an overall view of the process and generally show where the unit operations are, usually as blocks with the raw material streams identified. These are used less as technical data and more as informational data and might be included in information packets to local media or civic groups when information about an industry is requested. They are useful in training as well, especially during introductory health and safety training.
