. Describe what is done during a peel-the-onion process. Explain why the process is used.

What will be an ideal response?

Peel the onion, is a way of delving into a problem one layer at a time. The interviewer begins with the challenges the person faces and then continues to dig deeper in order to understand the core root of the problem. Asking “Why?” or saying “Tell me more about ______” will help you gain a deeper understanding. The process helps get at the core of the issue so that greater insight can be gained. People often talk about symptoms of an issue rather than the core. People may not be aware of the core of the issue until the process is used. The process should discover emotions, what is done, what is behind the actions, and note tone and body language.
