A carpentry crew consists of one foreperson, five carpenters, and three laborers. The bare hourly wage rate and labor burden for each class of employee is found in Table 2. What is the weighted average burdened wage rate for the crew?

What will be an ideal response?

The labor costs are as follows:

Foreman = 1 each × ($18.75 + $6.29) = $25.04

Carpenters = 5 each × ($16.25 + $5.78) = $110.15

Laborers = 3 each × ($13.80 + $5.27) = $57.21

Total = $25.04 + $110.15 + $57.21 =$192.40

The weighted average burdened wage rate for the crew is as follows:

Weighted average burdened wage rate = $192.40/(1 + 5 + 3) = $21.38
