Discuss the development of mammals during the Mesozoic and Cenozoic, including the development of mammals

from cynodonts and the development of various groups of mammals. What will be an ideal response?

The cynodonts were a group of mammal-like reptiles that lived in the Late Triassic. They
developed into true mammals. Some of these early mammals still reproduced by egg-laying.
The monotremes, including the platypus, are examples of these early egg-laying mammals.
Marsupials are a group of mammals that give live birth to young that require more
development in pouches. The placental mammals give live birth to young that are relatively
well-developed and can survive without a second period of incubation.
