As an interpreter of a dramatic text, what is the director's process?

What will be an ideal response?

The director chooses and establishes a directorial vision for a play, finding a central idea that can unite the elements of production and figuring out how to convey the meaning of the piece to the audience. He/she works with performers on their acting and sets the blocking, or the actors' patterns of movement on stage. In the final weeks leading up to the opening night, the director works to integrate the technical elements of the production—lighting, set, costumes, and sound—with the live performers.
