What are the steps that must be taken by MPR professionals prior to a community or cause-related event? Explain your answer in detail
What will be an ideal response?
As with most events, the marketer has to choose or design the event carefully to ensure that the audience is a segment of the public with whom the firm wants to create, maintain, or repair a relationship. Regardless of whether the event is to be self-produced or you are participating in a third-party function, you need to be sure that the community issue or charitable cause aligns with the firm's positioning in order for the event to contribute to the company's overall marketing strategy. Once you choose the event, you must set objectives for it as well. MPR goals for such an event can include spreading word-of-mouth by directly interacting with the attending audience by fostering media coverage. In either case, newsworthiness for this type of event hinges upon the event's relevance to the audience it claims to be serving. If you are planning to produce the event yourself, you need to consider your audiences and goals to determine a time, place, and event format that will work for you. While thinking about format, you must also consider holding the event in a place that enhances your message, that is convenient for your guests and media, and that might actually draw some attention on its own merits. Once you have decided upon the format and venue, it is time to create an invitation list. This list is essentially a list of media and non-media connectors who will reach out to the firm's target audience. Following invitations should be a traditional wave of press releases, pitching, and follow-up that highlight the importance of the event to the target audience and society at large.
