What was the most significant change in eighteenth-century warfare that lessened the devastation on Europe?

What will be an ideal response?

The principle cause is that more wars were fought overseas, in Asia and in the Western Hemisphere. The wars that were fought in Europe were significantly shorter and less disruptive. Previous wars had brought disease from the filth of encampments and destroyed the fields where crops were grown, which in turn caused famines within the general population. In the eighteenth century, soldiers were also better fed, better supplied, and under stronger centralized control that lessened the effects of marauding and causing lateral damages.
