Define Goffman’s term impression management and how it is connected to the work of George Herbert Mead.

What will be an ideal response?

Impression management refers to the verbal and nonverbal practices we employ in an attempt to present an acceptable image of our self to others. While Mead contends that the central elements of social interaction are rooted in one’s imagination, Goffman looks to the “scene” within which individuals orient their actions to one another.
