A bar code is a printed code that is read optically into a computer system. The machine readable code will be read into a computer, which will have been programmed to identify the code. RFID uses small microelectronic chips to store information. The tags can be affi xed to a product in a similar fashion to a bar code. The RFID tag can be read or “interrogated” by a scanner or transponder. Interrogated means the tag does not have to be physically located to read it.
