Choose a situation in which hormonal control is important in maintaining homeostasis and describe how hormones function in this situation
What will be an ideal response?
Homeostasis is the maintenance of a physiological state within constrained parameters. This chapter presents two examples, either of which serves as the basis for a complete answer. In the case of blood glucose, a student could describe the function of the pancreatic hormones, with a possible aside on how stress hormones change the level at which glucose is maintained. Or a student might choose blood calcium, describing how parathyroid hormone raises blood calcium and calcitonin lowers it.
