Why is shared leadership important for teams?

What will be an ideal response?

The various functions of teams in terms of getting tasks done, dealing with the personal or emotional needs of team members, and affecting change when necessary, oftentimes can’t be readily handled by a single leader, especially in larger teams. Therefore, it is important to attend to and develop the capacity for leadership in many, if not all, of the team members themselves. Shared leadership can also team member motivation and psychological well-being. The overall goal of the formal team leader should be to enable the successful delegation to decision-making to followers. Although it is important to note, that this does not mean abdication or ignorance of decision-making. The formal leader should still be involved in order to be aware of what is going on within the team, provide any required input into decision-making, make major decisions if necessary, and to monitor and help resolve conflict.
