Foundation volume = 122? × 1? × 8? / 12 in per ft = 81 cf / 27 cf per cy = 3.0 cy

Find the volume of the backfill. The backfill will be in compacted cubic yards (or feet).

Backfill (ccy) = 54.2 bcy – 9.0 cy – 3.0 cy = 42.2 ccy
