Screening for depression as well as alcohol and drug use could be completed at all physical examinations since older adults tend to show up in medical offices more than mental health centers. Screening could also take place at workshops in religious institutions, especially true in some cultures as older persons would be more likely attend a suicide prevention workshop at a church rather than a mental health facility. Older adults could be encouraged at their places of work through workshops on retirement and financial planning to avert potential future stressors. Education for all of those who come in contact with older adults including post men, clerks and engineers in apartment buildings. Professional education for social workers is essential.
