Women's roles have changed greatly in the past three decades
What are the
advantages and disadvantages for women in today's society? How are they treated
differently now than in the past by professionals, government, family members,
pension boards, employers, educators, etc.? Do opportunities differ now from those
in recent past decades? Compare and contrast, giving examples from text and
informed personal knowledge.
What will be an ideal response?
Women's liberation has provided more freedom, more responsibility, less protection
in the traditional sense, more single parenthood, easier divorce, better access to jobs
but slow progress on equal pay to men. Women now own and operate their own
businesses, affairs and finances. However, women can more easily be abandoned.
They are still held accountable, as they were in Victorian era, for the welfare and
rearing of the children. Students may discuss particulars, such as treatment by
professionals, rights and access to education, child poverty based on women's
poverty. Family structures of various sorts can be discussed. Comparing (how are
they similar?) and contrasting (how are they different?) as an organizational
approach for the essay is helpful.
