What is emotional intelligence and how does it apply to leadership?

The ability to understand your own emotions, to understand the emotions of others, and then to apply this understanding to life’s tasks. Emotional intelligence applies to leadership because leadership is a relational process. The more we know our own emotions and the emotions of those around us, the better prepared we are to lead change in positive and effective ways.
