Discuss the weaknesses of ethnographic research.
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: Answer would ideally include: A major problem is that typically only a single researcher records the descriptions that constitute the data, leaving the research open to all sorts of questions concerning expertise, consistency, and potential bias. Validity of ethnographic findings is also a concern. It is difficult to resolve these issues, even when two or more researchers collect data as a check against each other. An additional problem with ethnographic research has to do with the generalizability of its findings. In far too many cases, it is clear that conclusions drawn from ethnographic research, even though they illuminate the particular group being studied, do not seem to be applicable to other groups and settings.
