Define learning disabilities. Describe a child that would reflect the definition of learning disabilities. Include in your description an intervention that would address the area of underachievement.
What will be an ideal response?
The answer should indicate that students with learning disabilities have average or above average intelligence but have unexpected underachievement. This underachievement cannot be attributed to lack of effort, poor instruction, cultural or linguistic differences, or other extrinsic influences. The answer must include a child that meets the definition of learning disabilities (e.g., intelligence level, areas of underachievement, etc.). For the area of underachievement, the description of the intervention should be appropriate to the selected area.
