The book describes 8 Ps of marketing. What do promotion, purse strings, and policy refer to? What are some important considerations of each?
What will be an ideal response?
Promotion refers to the method of bringing awareness of a service or product to the intended audience. This can include a variety of activities such as word-of-mouth advertising, media campaigns, and public relations. When designing a promotional message, one of the important considerations is making sure the message is timed right to address current concerns of the target audience. Purse strings refers to how a program is funded and often comes from a variety of sources, including participant fees. However, an important consideration for purse strings is finding sustainable sources of funding from partners such as state or federal agencies, foundations, and donors. Policy refers to the occasional need for public policy to change in order to produce the community support needed for a program to inspire change in behavior. One consideration in policy could be how to promote the program not only to the intended audience but influential policy makers.
