How are children socialized into a gender identity?

What will be an ideal response?

ANSWER: It begins with the declaration of the sex at birth. Children are treated differently and develop ideas about what it means to be female or male. They develop self-esteem about their gender identity through messages from society about what is good or bad about being that sex.
