Analyze the role played by women in the French Revolution. What benefits, if any, were achieved?

What will be an ideal response?

Women played a very active role in the French Revolution, from its inception, with the bread riots, to the protests of Olympia de Gouges, writing The Rights of Woman in response to the initial document issued by the National Assembly. The National Assembly document ideally promised respect of natural rights for all men, but de Gouges stepped forward to ask about the rights of women. In October 1789, it was a group of women who stormed Versailles and brought the king and his family back to Paris to see the effects of the food shortages, liberated food sources from the palace, and effectively placed Louis and his family under house arrest. Women, however, did not receive many rights during or following the Revolution.
