Why is it important for teachers to know the community in which their school is located? Name three ways to do this
What will be an ideal response?
Answer: In-school and out-of-school worlds are complementary and reinforcing. The more teachers know about the backgrounds, cultures, aspirations, and motivations of students, the more they will be able to challenge and inspire students to learn. A teacher can learn about a community through community organizations, by touring the community to see what it is like to live in that community, and by researching the community and family histories.
